Franchise Owners File Suit Against Burger King

Burger King logoFast food chain Burger King upsets franchise ownersFrom FoxBusiness: Fast food franchise owners filed a suit against Burger King in a South Florida U.S. District Court, according to reports.

The U.S. franchisees, 80% of which are represented by the National Franchise Association, have argued that a new promotion advertising a $1.00 double cheeseburger that franchises are required to participate in is causing the franchises to sell the burger at a loss, the Associated Press reported.

Krispy Kreme franchise goes to Thailand

Krispy Kreme food franchiseFrom Reuters: Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation has entered into an agreement with KDN Company Ltd for the development of 20 food franchises in Thailand over the next five years.

KDN Company Limited is majority owned and operated by Ms. Ausanee Mahagitsiri, eldest child of successful Thai industrialist Prayudh Mahagitsiri. "With KDN Company Limited, we have found a franchise partner in Thailand with a true passion for the Krispy Kreme brand and our world famous products," said Jeff Welch, president Krispy Kreme international.

Subway Franchise To Overtake McDonald's

According to AdAge.com, Subway will become the world's largest fast food franchise - in that it will have more outlets than any of its competitors.  

The sandwich franchise is expected to overtake McDonald's in the next few months, with 31,771 stores currently in operation they are expecting to pass 31,800 this week. Subway is racing toward McDonald's 32,158 total restaurants, however the hamburger restaurant is still leading the way in terms of sales.

The agreement makes KFC the lone fast-food marketing partner for the NFL, which had been without one since a pact with Burger King Holdings Inc. (BKC) ended after the 2007 season.
